# Security

> Change your account password and resolve common password update issues.

Use this page to update your Remapdb account password.

Click your name at the bottom of the main navigation, click [**Settings**](https://app.remapdb.com/settings), then click [**Security**](https://app.remapdb.com/settings/security).

## Change password

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open security">
    Go to **Settings > Security**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Enter your current password">
    Fill the **Current password** field.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Enter your new password">
    Fill **New password** and **Confirm new password**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Save">
    Click the **Change password** button.
  </Step>

Password change applies immediately after successful save.

## Password rules

* You must enter your current password.
* New and confirmation passwords must match.
* Your new password must be at least **6 characters**.

## If you forgot your current password

* Click the **Forgot password?** link under the current password field.
* Complete the reset flow from your mailbox.
* Return to [**Settings > Security**](https://app.remapdb.com/settings/security) if you still need to set a different password.

## Common issues

| Issue                           | What to check                                                        | How to fix                                                                                                                    |
| ------------------------------- | -------------------------------------------------------------------- | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Current password is rejected    | You may be entering your new password in the current password field. | Enter your current password in **Current password**, then try again.                                                          |
| New password confirmation fails | **New password** and **Confirm new password** are not identical.     | Click the **view password** icon in both fields to show plain text, compare both values, fix any mismatch, then submit again. |
| Form shows validation error     | One required field is empty, or the new password is too short.       | Fill all required fields and make sure the new password has at least **6 characters**.                                        |
